A weekly open water colour and mixed media class - each session we will explore a different topic or theme. From still life, portraits, and Weather permitting, paint outside scenes, ... The class is suitable for all levels of ability, complete beginners welcome. Tools and materials included but feel free to bring your own materials too.. BEGINNERS GUITAR / 
Wed 7 - 8.30 pm

A weekly stand alone guitar class suitable for complete beginners, or lapsed players who wish to get back into playing. Led by Pete Giles, in a relaxed and informal style, with small groups. You are welcome to just one session, or come along every week to build up your skills - bring your guitar (or ask about borrowing one) Costs £10 per session, booking required.

An artist led tour around  St.Ives to see the  art hot spots and opportunity to draw Materials provided and help and advice given for novice drawers! ART FOR WELLBEING / 6 weeks / Fri 10 - 12

Find your artistic flow - with this series of restful workshops,  led by Zoe Eaton and Bobby Wotnot. 

Each session uses art activities, combined with an ambient atmosphere, to aid a state of creative 'flow'.  Being absorbed in a creative task is thought to promote a sense of wellbeing, by developing   confidence, observation skills, concentration, hand-eye coordination and Mindfulness.   The activities we have chosen are designed for people of all levels of artistic ability - so it doesn't matter if you 'can't draw' . Enjoy the process and leave with lovely artwork!

You can pick any week for £15, or book all 6 sessions for £60. Includes materials and herbal tea.

BEGINNERS GUITAR DAY 11:00 - 16:00

This easy method is designed for adults with little or no experience who wish to get a good start playing acoustic guitar. During the day you will learn 4 chords, read tab, understand the principles of tuning, and play a complete song - in small groups with time for individual assistance. If you need to borrow a guitar please get in touch. Tickets are £45 advanced booking generally required.

ABSTRACT PAINTING 10:00 - 13:00

A three hour session to give you the chance to explore colour and form by painting an abstract and have some fun. Led by artist Zoe Eaton who will lead you through techniques and thought processes to help you finish a work in acrylics.

Delve into the world of abstract drawing with artist Bobby Wotnot to lead you into a world of abstraction. Find a different way to draw and discover a new language. There will be a number of warm up exercises, designed to develop and explore different approaches to abstraction before working on a larger drawing of your own style. £15 inc materials

A chance to create a Christmas stamp, using lino tools with Erin Lacy from Pick Pretty Paints. The morning with give you a chance to learn carving techniques & print onto a selection of fabric and paper samples using the lovely printing paints range. Create your own Christmas Cards, gift tags, bunting and more!

Stockings, calico bags & greeting cards will also be available to purchase on the day or you're more than welcome to bring extra surfaces you wish to adorn with print. Costs £20.

MAKE Fancy Dress BIG HEAD!

Learn how to design and make a wearable 'Big Head' using lightweight materials including paper mache, willow and cardboard.  Perfect for your New Years Eve Costume!  There's Lots of ideas to inspire you, or bring a photo and get help with design and construction with Zoe Eaton and Pete Giles.

Book into one of our Making Sessions to create the basic construction - Allow 24 hours for your Big Head to dry, then you can drop into one of our Painting sessions to complete it. The total time to make a Big Head is between 4 - 8 hours over two sessions.

PAINT LIKE ALFRED WALLIS 14:00 - 16:00

Alfred Wallis (1855 - 1942) was a naive artist who lived and worked in St.Ives. In this session you can make your own drawings of St.Ives as a basis for a painting in his style.

Zoe Eaton will lead you into making your own painting, drawing on the styles, themes, techniques and colours of Alfred Wallis. This workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities, and complete novices!

All materials included. Adults £15, children £10

Weds 21st February

Candle Making 14:00 - 16:00

Create beautiful and unique candles, by casting wax into sand molds, then decorate with beach finds such as shells, sea glass or pebbles. Colour your candles and fragrance with essential oils. The finished candles have a light sand crust and are ideal for indoors or outdoors. You will have time to make about 3 candles of varying sizes. Costs £20 inc materials, children £10.

Explore the art of St. Ives abstract artist Patrick Heron (1920 - 1999). Be inspired to create your own mini masterpiece.
